The boat will operate on plane in about 12 inches of water, skimming over flats where many deeper hulls wouldn't make it. This allows access to areas that bigger rigs can't reach. This was probably because the lightweight rig does not force the stern to sink into the water as it drops off plane.Ī shallow draft is a major advantage of using a small aluminum bass like the 160. We had no problems with water coming over the transom on quick stops. The boat slides considerably on tight, high-speed turns, but the slide is predictable after you practice a bit. Steering is single cable rack-and-pinion Teleflex, which felt solid throughout the operating range and gave modest feedback even at top end. Electrical circuits are fused, and the box is located under the console. 2003 Monark Tracer 170 W/75hp Mercury 4 stroke, 221 hours, tilt/trim, Motor Guide foot operated trolling motor, fishfinder, livewell/baitwell, bimini top. Standard gauges include a tachometer and speedometer. The Hummingbird 400 LCD, a standard feature, is wisely mounted on the starboard gunwale rather than on the dash, where it would obstruct visibility. We liked the seats however - both fore and aft are built on composite plastic bases rather than wood, and should last a long time. Anglers with long legs might have problems positioning the control comfortably. We found that space available for the trolling motor foot control a bit tight, with only 31 inches between the bow panel and the base of the bow seat. It had more than adequate power to provide all the push needed for boat positioning. The MotorGuide model 730 bow-mount trolling motor, a 12-volt power plant, is standard.
MONARK PRO 170 PORTABLE
The portable fuel tank holds 12 gallons and is stored under the aft platform.
If you fish with heavy-weight fishing pals, you might choose the 60-horsepower Mercury/Mariner option. Top speed was 31.5 on the radar gun - sufficient for a boat of this class and probably faster than most buyers are going to drive it. It definitely won't leave any V-6s in its wake. With two people aboard, the boat took about 10.2 seconds to plane. More pics are available too.The test boat was equipped with a 40-horsepower Force engine. Send a PM and I'll provide the email address of the co-owner that has the boat at his house or my phone number to answer questions. We can show the invoice/receipt for all of the work done.

Low hours, the boat was unused for the last 5-7 years but a lot of work was just done on it by Tanglewood Marine (list below). The boat and motors are both in excellent shape. 1994 Monark Pro Bass 170 Boat for sale ($3,900)
